Simona Brüninghaus

Simona Brüninghaus was born in 1968 in Moers and took her first piano lessons at the age of six from her father. At 18, she passed the C examination in church music. After graduating from secondary school she initially trained as a speech therapist and practiced this profession for eight years. At the same time, from 1994, she studied voice at the Musikhochschule Detmold, Abteilung Münster. She completed the requirements for her diploma cum laude in 1998.

Simona Brüninghaus has taken part in master classes with Roberta Alexander and Christoph Prégardien. One year after beginning her musical studies, she made her début at the Städtische Bühnen Münster in Alban Berg’s opera “Lulu” in the role of the fifteen-year old girl. She was contracted as a regular member of the company at the same theatre in 1998 and sang both in the opera chorus as in such solo roles as the First Boy in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte”. Beyond this Simona Brüninghaus is also a dedicated concert and recital artist and has participated in a number of oratorio performances.
