Sigrid Kirsch

A native of the Austrian Bürgenland Province, alto Sigrid Kirsch received her training in concert singing and vocal education at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Graz and at the Musikakademie der Stadt Basel. Her teachers included Wolfgang Gamerith, Christel Borchers, Claudia Rüggeberg and Kurt Widmer.

As a student, Sigrid Kirsch received an achievement grant from the Musikhochschule in Graz, a work grant from the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, and she was also awarded a grant from both the American Institute of Musical Studies and the Walter-Kaminsky-Stiftung.

She taught voice at a number of music schools such as the one in Bregenz. In 2002 she emerged as a prize winner from the international Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Wettbewerb.

Her vocal work has taken her to a number of solo concert engagements, supplementing her performances with the Bavarian Radio Chorus, where she has been a regular member since September of 2005.
