Born in Erding near Munich, Anna-Maria Palii started taking piano, violin and voice lessons at an early age. After receiving her school leaving certificate she first studied education, psychology and music education at Bamberg University before enrolling at Graz University of the Arts (2011), where she studied voice with Claudia Rüggeberg. She also trained as a concert singer with Joseph Breinl (lied) and Christine Whittlesey (oratorio) and received further inspiration from Julie Kaufmann and Edith Wiens, and augmented her studies in master classes with Aulikki Eerola, Reinhild Mees, Ingrid Maessen, Götz Payer, Jan Philip Schulze, Robert Holl, Joshua Rifkin, Brigitte Fassbaender and Hedwig Fassbender. In 2016 she completed her bachelor’s degree with distinction. She is currently a master pupil of Elena Pankratova.
She has received scholarships from the Rotary Club, the Bavarian Singakademie, the Irmler Foundation of Bamberg University and the Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition (Helsinki), as well as merit scholarships from Graz University of the Arts in 2014 and 2016.
Anna-Maria Palii has already sung a great many opera roles for her vocal category, including Susanna (“The Marriage of Figaro”), Zerlina (“Don Giovanni”), Anna Reich (“The Merry Wives of Windsor”), Pamina (“The Magic Flute”), Gretel (“Hänsel und Gretel”), Ännchen (“Der Freischütz”), Anne (“The Rake’s Progress”) and Flora (“The Turn of the Screw”). Her concert repertoire ranges from the baroque era to contemporary music and includes such works as Bach’s “St John Passion”, “St Matthew Passion”, “Christmas Oratorio” and many cantatas, Haydn’s “The Creation”, Mozart’s C-minor Mass, “Exsultate, jubilate” and “Coronation Mass”, and works by Schubert, Dvořák, Rossini, Handel and Mendelssohn. Her many engagements have taken her to Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, France and Belgium.
Anna-Maria Palii is a member of the Bavarian Radio Chorus since summer 2016.
