Everybody can sing, and some even decide to do it professionally. Others want to learn how to lead a chorus, are full of creative ideas about what a chorus could sing, or simply want to listen to music that features singing.
Sharing knowledge and skills with the public is deeply entrenched in the philosophy of public broadcasting and its affiliated professional ensembles like the Bavarian Radio Chorus.
Because of this commitment, the Bavarian Radio Chorus supports young artists, amateur singers, ambitious classical music listeners as well as curious newbies.
The promotion of young musicians by the chorus encompasses different projects such as the “Dirigentenforum für junge Chordirigenten” in cooperation with the Bavarian Landesjugendchor, the commissioning of compositions to young composers and the support of young singers. In addition, students and pupils are invited to watch the rehearsals of the chorus.
You can also get involved by joining the cOHRwürmer, a concert where the audience sings along with the Bavarian Radio Chorus and the Münchner Rundfunkorchester at Circus Krone.
Some listeners want to learn more. BR-Klassik and its label offer selected CDs with in-depth introductions to important works of choral literature.
