The BR Chorus’s Arvo Pärt page
Arvo Pärt celebrates his 85th birthday
Concerts, broadcasts, CDs, videos – The BR Chorus is delighted to congratulate Arvo Pärt, the gentle giant among the great composers, with an online collection vividly portraying his oeuvre and opening up pathways to his music.

Many happy returns, Maestro Pärt, and many thanks for concert experiences full of spirituality, contemplation and lucidity!
Since the 1980s Arvo Pärt’s music of internalisation, reduction and spirituality has softly triumphed all over the world. No small part in this development has been played by the Bavarian Radio Chorus, which became one of Germany’s earliest Pärt ensembles with the world première of his great Passio in 1982.
Over the years this association has intensified. For example, the BR Chorus gave the German première of Ja ma kuulsin hääle (“And I Heard a Voice”), for which Pärt specially travelled to the Salzburg Festival to attend the rehearsals and the performance. With great emotion he expressed his appreciation for the chorus’s artistic work (see videos).
